Having obtained his National Diploma in Hotelkeeping and Catering from the Westminster Hotel School, Michael held various positions in Claridge's, to gain practical experience and moving to The Carlton Tower. In 1982, Hyatt International assumed management of the hotel and Michael was appointed Resident Manager. This was the beginning of his long association with the Hyatt International group which would take him to Singapore, Canberra and Melbourne and back to London. He was General Manager of the Hyatt Carlton Tower for several years and then took over as GM of the Churchill when Hyatt took over the management contract as Hyatt Regency London-The Churchill. Retiring from Hyatt in 2016, Michael created Gray Matters International, advising Hotels and Hospitality businesses and continues as National Delegate for the UK & Ireland, for the European Hotel Managers Association- E.H.M.A, an Association of 400 + Hotels from London to Moscow. Michael was Hotelier of the Year in 2007.
