GM of The Future 2022 Shortlist Announced

The Master Innholders has unveiled the finalists for their GM of the Future Award, in partnership with Independent Hotel Show Awards.

The GM of the Future Award initiated by the Master Innholders, honours the dynamic young professionals who show commitment to future leadership development in their careers in the industry.

The GM of the Future Award 2022 shortlist:

  • Beth Bryant, Hotel Manager, The Ickworth Hotel
  • Oliver Harris, Operations Manager, Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa
  • Rachel Stevens, Rooms Division Manager, Pennyhill Park
  • Jill van Rest, Operations Manager, Strand Palace
  • Alexander Wilson, Front Office Manager, The Goring
  • Karen Weisheit, Hotel Manager, Grove of Narberth

Nominations for the GM of the Future Award were judged by a panel of leading hoteliers and experts in the industry, including Glenn Wallace, Event Director at Montgomery Group, David Morgan-Hewitt, Chair of the Master Innholders & Managing Director at The Goring, Dan Rose-Bristow, Owner & Managing Director at The Torridon Resort, Petra Clayton, Creator & CEO of Custard, Wallace Vincent, Master Innholders, Daniel Pedreschi FIH MI, Regional Vice President of Hotel Operations, UK and, Anna Sirba MIH, General Manager at The Bodmin Jail Hotel.

Commenting on the nominations received, David Morgan-Hewitt, Chair of the Master Innholders said: “This process has demonstrated the incredible high-quality talent we have inside our properties, and I have no doubt that within the next few years, our industry will witness the emergence of excellent general managers and leaders.

We were astonished by the number of applicants we received for the GM of the Future Award, the calibre has been more than encouraging. It has been a joy to ready through the applications, the future of our industry looks very bright. The work of narrowing down the candidates was difficult, but I am confident that all the finalists are well on their way to general manager.”

The Independent Hotel Show Awards recognises the passion of independently spirited hoteliers who drive the industry forward, together with businesses bringing true innovation around guest experience and business efficiency, the Independent Hotel Show Awards champion all that make independent hotels such amazing places to stay.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the end of the first day of the Independent Hotel Show on Tuesday 4 October.

The Independent Hotel Show takes place on 4 and 5 October 2022 at Olympia London.
