GM of The Future 2023 Shortlist unveiled

The Master Innholders has unveiled the finalists for their GM of the Future Award, in partnership with Independent Hotel Show Awards.

The GM of the Future Award initiated by the Master Innholders, honours dynamic young professionals who show commitment to future leadership development in their careers within the hospitality industry.

The GM of the Future Award 2023 shortlist:

  • Jordan Hughes, Hotel Manager, Northcote Hotel Ltd
  • Leanne Silavant, Front Office Manager, The Castle Hotel
  • Niek de Rijcke, Guest Experience Coordinator, Dorchester Collection
  • Daniel Greenock, Restaurant Manager, Gleneagles
  • Chiara Sorrentino, Operations Manager, Exclusive Hotels
  • Chris Bancroft, Operations Manager, The Newt in Somerset

Nominations for the GM of the Future Award were judged by a panel of leading hoteliers and experts in the industry, including Glenn Wallace, Event Director at Montgomery Group, Dan Rose-Bristow MI, Chair of the Master Innholders and Owner of The Torridon Resort, Petra Clayton, Creator & CEO of Custard, Wallace Vincent, Executive Secretary of the Master Innholders, James B Clarke MI, Vice Chairman of the Master Innholders and General Manager of Hilton Bankside, Adrian Ellis MI, Hotelier of the Year and General Manager of The Lowry, and Karen Weisheit, GM of the Future 2022 and Hotel Manager at Grove Narberth.

Commenting on the nominations received, Dan Rose-Bristow MI, Chair of the Master Innholders said: “A hotel is nothing without its general manager, yet having the skills and training to become one in our current climate is far from an easy task. Providing young talent with the opportunities to pursue their career goals, such as through the GM of the Future award, is just one of the many ways we aim to help support those within the industry.

“It has also been immensely encouraging and humbling to see so many people from across the sector apply and wanting to pursue a career as a general manager. Narrowing down the candidates was a challenging task, but we are confident that all the finalists are on a promising path to becoming successful hoteliers.”

The Independent Hotel Show Awards celebrates the passion of independently spirited hoteliers who continuously drive the industry forward. Alongside innovative businesses that enhance guest experiences and streamline operations, the awards honour all of the elements that make independent hotels truly remarkable places to stay, taking pride in acknowledging the innovation that shapes the essence of the amazing places to stay.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the end of the first day of the Independent Hotel Show on Monday 16 October.

The Independent Hotel Show takes place on 16 and 17 October 2023 at Olympia London.
