Institute of Hospitality launches Fellows’ Hall of Fame
The Institute of Hospitality (IoH) has launched its Fellows’ Hall of Fame at last week’s annual Fellows’ Dinner, creating a permanent tribute to some of the hospitality industry’s most distinguished figures.
The Hall of Fame recognises individuals whose achievements, dedication and influence have made an exceptional contribution to hospitality. All recipients of the Outstanding Contribution Award will automatically be added to the Hall of Fame. In addition, three others will be added: one posthumously, and two nominated by Fellows of the Institute, to be announced each year at the Institute of Hospitality Fellows’ Dinner.
Spearheaded by Harry Murray MBE FIH, himself a recipient of the award, it celebrates those whose work has helped shape the profession and inspire future generations.
Mr Murray said:
“I have been a proud Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality for the past 45 Years. I am delighted that the Institute has agreed to introduce a Fellows Hall of Fame to recognise in perpetuity Fellows, both past and present, whose vision, leadership, and outstanding contribution helped shape and promote the Institute's global professionalism”
Those admitted into the IoH’s Hall of Fame will retain their place in perpetuity, the first time such recognition has been awarded by the organisation.
Robert Richardson FIH MI Hon DLitt, Chief Executive of the Institute of Hospitality, said:
“The Institute of Hospitality is proud to represent more than 1,000 Fellows, each of whom has demonstrated a commitment to professionalism and excellence within our Institute and our profession. However, the Hall of Fame recognises something truly exceptional. It celebrates those individuals who have helped shape the very foundations of our profession.
“Until now, every member of the Hall of Fame has earned their place through receiving the Fellows’ Outstanding Contribution Award. While this remains an important route to recognition, we also recognise that exceptional contributions to hospitality take many forms. As the Hall of Fame evolves, we envisage broadening the opportunities for recognition, celebrating those whose achievements, influence and dedication have made an extraordinary and lasting impact on our profession.”
“Recognition in the Hall of Fame is forever, honouring those whose work has helped shape our profession, inspired others and created a lasting legacy that extends far beyond their own lifetimes.”
The Fellows’ Outstanding Contribution Award recognises individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Institute or the wider hospitality profession. The Hall of Fame will provide a lasting record of their achievements and the legacy they leave behind. Members of the Hall of Fame will become integral parts of the Institute’s history, which extends back to 1938.
