Adrian Ellis announced as 2022 Hotelier of the Year

Master Innholder and Lowry Hotel General Manager Adrian Ellis has been awarded this year’s esteemed Hotelier of the Year award.

Ellis was presented with the award for his exemplary work in managing the five-AA-star Lowry hotel in Manchester, as well as using his platform to inspire young people to enter the industry alongside his numerous programmes to help raise awareness of sustainability issues and promote various charity events.

Speaking to The Caterer, Ellis explained that he “…never thought it would come to me. I was shocked, stunned and surprised.”

“At this stage of my career, it’s all about giving something back and getting young people into hospitality at a time when there is such a dire shortage of staff.

“It’s about doing things for the greater good.”

Ellis was given the award at the Park Plaza Riverbank hotel in London by The Caterer editor, James Stagg, alongside Nick Appell of Casna Group, the award’s sponsor.

He was chosen as the winner from a panel of judges composed of high-profile hoteliers, including 14 previous winners of the Hotelier of the Year award.

“The work he does in helping young people come into our industry is truly inspirational, all while running a successful internationally acclaimed hotel with his people at the heart of what he does,” said one of the judges.

The award, which is presented yearly to one individual hotelier, is given to those who have gone above and beyond in the industry and helped to support those in the wider hospitality community.
