MIDAS

Develop the management skills you need to succeed in your hospitality career via a 6-month e-learning course, which will gain you a nationally recognised qualification in the process.

About

The Master Innholders Developing Additional Skills programme (MIDAS) is a 6-month online training program devised to help those in the hospitality industry better manage their teams and improve their overall management skills.

Over the 6 months, candidates will enjoy networking and structured learning in a group of like-minded people, fully supported by a team of experienced hoteliers and tutors. Candidates will be able to undertake learning at their own pace, with regular virtual classrooms and meetings with their peers and tutors to discuss their learnings and share their experiences.

Upon completion, candidates will achieve an ILM Award in Leadership & Management at Level 3, as well as a MIDAS certificate in Managing Team Performance from The Master Innholders.

An ideal candidate will be someone still fairly new to their career in hospitality but is someone that already manages a team of people and the success of their role is reliant on the performance of the team they are managing. The candidate will also be someone who enjoys engaging and motivating their team but also wishes to know more about how to be more effective when managing their team.

The Course

A MIDAS course is focused on developing you as a manager and on growing and developing the skills you need to help you excel in your role.

The course is broken into several sections, focusing on skills such as:

  • Setting clear objectives for you and your team
  • Creating effective action plans
  • Delegating and allocating work
  • Managing resources
  • Using motivation theories to maximise performance
  • Maximising engagement in your team

While candidates are able to tackle the course at their own pace, there will be opportunities throughout this period to discuss your learnings with both your peers and your tutors in a virtual environment.

Alongside e-learning, candidates will also undertake two assignments to demonstrate their learnings and ability to apply them to their role. Upon completion of these assignments and the relevant e-learning, candidates will achieve an ILM Award in Leadership & Management at Level 3, as well as a MIDAS certificate in Managing Team Performance from The Master Innholders.
